The DM74AS652NT is a 6-bit non-inverting buffer/line driver with active-low outputs and has been designed to support increase the speed of rapidly parallel operations and to interface data buses with differing voltage levels. This device is most commonly used in logic gates, memories, and data handling. It is also used in multiplexers, tristate, and bus switches.

This device is made up of two distinct logic components: a buffer/line driver and a line receiver. The buffer/line driver will take input signals from five separate sources, amplify them and drive the corresponding output to the appropriate voltage levels. The line receiver will take input signals from five separate sources, compare them and is able to, if necessary output an active-low state. This can be used to further control current flow.

The DM74AS652NT will have six inputs, each with a separate input buffer, these inputs are then connected to latch-enable (LE) and output enable (OE) pins. When LE is active the input buffer will latch data on the rising edge of the clock, allowing for synchronization of data. When OE is active a high impedance state is active, preventing current from the other external sources from being sent to the output.
