Working Principle:

DM74LS151N works by selecting one bit (out of the 8-bit data inputs) and transferring it to the output port. To enable the circuit, the enable pin is used, and to select the output data, the output enable pin is used.

For example, if we take a single input port, say A and 4-bit selector as S3S2S1S0 (S stands for Selector), then the output port O is equal to the following:

• If S3S2S1S0 is 0000, then O = A0;
• If S3S2S1S0 is 0001, then O = A1;
• If S3S2S1S0 is 0010, then O = A2;
• And so on…

In this way, data transmission is routed from one input port to multiple output ports and the data can be processed further.
