Piezoresistive effect is the phenomenon in which a strain or pressure applied on a metallic material changes the electrical resistance of the material. The resistance changes due to distortion of the microstructure of the metallic material caused by the pressure. This effect is used in the DP2-62N to measure pressure. The DP2-62N consists of a metal diaphragm on which strain gauges are applied. When the pressure is applied on the diaphragm, the strain gauges experience a strain and consequently, the resistance of these gauges changes. This resistance change is used to measure pressure. This change is even lower when higher pressures are applied. The output of DP2-62N is usually filtered and amplified before the signal is sent to the monitoring and controlling systems.
