The DPA425GN-TL is a special purpose voltage regulator from the family of PMIC(Power Management ICs) regulators. It is specifically designed for automotive and industrial applications which require precise DC-DC voltage regulation.

The DPA425GN-TL offers excellent transient response and is capable of supplying up to 5A of continuous current. The device offers adjustable output ranges of 0.8V~6V, synchronous Rectified and Non-Synchronous Linear modes. It has built-in protection features like over-voltage, under-voltage, thermal shutdown and current limit. The device incorporates a smart PSFB(Precision-Switch-Feedback) architecture to eliminate the need of external compensation circuit, making it ideal for applications requiring the elimination of external components.

The DPA425GN-TL offers excellent power conversion efficiency, low operating temperature and low EMI(Electromagnetic Interference). It operates over a wide range of input voltage, from 4.5V to 20V, and has an adjustable switching frequency range from 100KHz to 1MHz. It also integrates a soft start, startup and enable pins which provide additional functions.

The DPA425GN-TL works on the principle of Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control scheme. In this scheme, the output voltage is determined by the time duration for which an external reference voltage is applied to the error amplifier that is connected to the primary or flyback winding of the transformer. The amplifier is interfaced to the duty cycle control circuit, which in turn is connected to the upper and lower power transistor switching signal. The duty cycle is controlled by the output voltage signal obtained from the secondary winding of the transformer. When the output voltage reaches the reference voltage, the duty cycle is adjusted to maintain the desired output voltage.
