DS1337S/T&R is a real time clock (RTC) designed specifically for precision timekeeping and timing applications. This clock features an integrated Real Time Clock (RTC) circuit, which provides precise timing, even when external power is not available. The DS1337S/T&R features a wide input voltage range, low power consumption and very small dimensions.
The DS1337S/T&R provides precise time and date readout by combining an on-chip oscillator and time register that counts time cycles for date and time. The on-chip oscillator provides accurate timekeeping even during periods without power and has an accuracy of ±2 minutes per month at 25°C. The RTC includes an alarm and one-second timer. It also has an on-chip temperature sensor, 8KB battery-backed SRAM, 16-bit counter, and a three-axis digital compass. Additionally, it includes a 32-bit temperature compensation circuit, and a fast startup oscillator.
The clock’s real-time calendar responds to microsecond increments, allowing accurate timekeeping and scheduling. The RTC provides a battery back-up feature to ensure accurate timekeeping even in the event of power failure. In addition, the time/date register is designed to automatically correct for leap year. The clock has a programmable alarm that triggers an interrupt to alert the microcontroller when the set time is reached.
The DS1337S/T&R features an on-chip temperature coefficient ranging from -5 to +5 ppm/C. This provides an extremely accurate time keeping even when operating temperature changes. In addition, the device can be programmed for different timekeeping modes to provide increased accuracy. The device also features wide input voltage range of 2.0V to 5.5V, low power consumption, very small dimensions and two different options for memory backup.
