The DS1305E+ is an Extremely Accurate Real Time Clock (RTC) that blends Digital and Analog Technologies. It integrates a mix of a highly accurate digital oscillator with a small crystal and a low power analog oscillator monitored by a large capacitance. These features provide an extremely accurate and low power clock solution. The DS1305E+ is designed to be extremely tolerant to temperature variations and supply voltage drift, significantly reducing the number of required temperature compensation constants and trimming tolerances while providing very high accuracy, reliability and long term stability.

The DS1305E+ supports a wide range of application fields including medical, industrial control, metering, tracking, and other fields requiring precise timing. The DS1305E+ is suitable for applications ranging from clocks, security, timekeeping to record keeping, sensor logging, and asset management. It is ideal for applications where the need for time accuracy is critical, such as security systems, smart lighting, and home automation.

The DS1305E+ has several different time modes, such as Year–Month–Day–Hour–Minute–Second (YMDHMS), 24-hour Hour–Minute–Second (HMS), 24-hour Hour–Minute (HM), and Midday/Midnight (ME). The time mode is easily selectable, allowing the user to customize the clock to best fit their particular application need. In addition, the DS1305E+ can be configured to automatically reset upon power failure, which provides a backup power solution.

The DS1305E+ is also equipped with an alarm mechanism, which allows the user to set an alarm and alert the system when a specific time is reached. The alarm mechanism is supplemented with a programmable resistor-programmable interconnect (RP) feature, which allows the user to create a custom time-based interrupt circuit.
