DS14285+ is an ultra-low-power slow-acting real-time clock that is designed for applications requiring real-time clock accuracy for multiple years with minimal power consumption. It is designed for a variety of consumer and industrial applications, including home appliances, smart metering and utilities, gaming and consumer automobiles. Due to its ultra-low power design, the DS14285+ is ideally suited for applications requiring accurate timing while using minimal power.The DS14285+ is a low-power small-size real-time clock with an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C. The integrated real-time clock (RTC) and backup memory offering high precision timing and offers accuracy within a few seconds of accuracy over 30 years with just 1.8 volts drive and no external components. The clock has an open circuit voltage of 1.7 V giving an average current consumption of 700nA and power dissipation of 1.2 uW.The DS14285+ contains a programmable clock timer which is used to generate an absolute time reference and to keep track of time even when the power is disconnected. The DS14285+ is also programmed with several different clock formats, and supports both weekly and monthly calendar settings, as well as several alarm functions and a programmable counter.The DS14285+ is also equipped with a 24-hour clock with 250msec resolution, which can be used to measure the duration of job executions. The timer typically runs at a frequency of 256 Hz, but can be adjusted for other frequencies or for frequency accelerations.The DS14285+ is based on a highly accurate timekeeping oscillator, which stabilizes the real-time clock and ensures that time is accurately tracked and stored when power is disconnected. This greatly increases the accuracy of the clock and keeps timekeeping accurate even over long periods of time.The DS14285+ is also designed with an automatic rollover which allows for the clock to automatically rollover from one day to the next when power is disconnected, ensuring that the timekeeping will remain accurate. Additionally, the clock can be reset to the proper time with the press of a button, allowing the user to set the clock back to the original time, even after a power failure.The DS14285+ offers a variety of features that make it an attractive choice for many real-time applications. Its very low power consumption, extended operating temperature range, high accuracy, and programmable features make it an ideal choice for a variety of applications. These features make the DS14285+ suitable for use in applications such as home automation, smart metering, gaming, and automotive applications.
