A watchdog timer is used to check the processor and identify when it has failed and inefficiency. An internal over-temperature limit can be set with a range of 40°C to 140°C (accurate to ±2°C ). It provides an over-current temperature trip range of 70°C to 150°C (accurate to ±5°C ).

The DS1830AS operates at a maximum frequency of 10 MHz. It has an input voltage of 0.90 V to 3.64 V, a maximum current of 500 mA, and low power operation at 25 µA. Memory is embedded for storing key features like the watchdog timer and temperature trip point. An LED on the DS1830AS indicates when power is off or when the device is in reset mode.
