DS1832S+ Application Field and Working Principle

Working Principle

DS1832S+ works by monitoring the voltages of VDD and VBAT. When VDD is lower than its under voltage (UV) threshold, VDD will be monitored. When VBAT is lower than its UV threshold, VBAT will be monitored. When VDD or VBAT is higher than its over voltage (OV) threshold, the power source voltage will be detected and shut off automatically so as to protect the equipment and personnel. Environmental conditions are monitored by DS1832S+ as well. DS1832S+ will monitor temperature range and thermal conditions, and issues an alarm and shuts down the system when exceeds the preset tempertaure range.

To ensure the reliable operation and prevention of the system, the output port of the DS1832S+ is configured as an open drain. The open drain allows for current to flow through the output port, and when an interrupt occurs, the open drain is pulled low, thus preventing current from flowing. This way it protects the system from various output port related issues.
