Clock/Timing devices allow us to keep track of time accurately, with less power consumption and greater accuracy than mechanical clocks made of gears and parts. In many applications, such as computers and servers, communications and broadcast, test equipments and industrial automation, the support of clock and timing signals is mandatory. The DS21602N is an example of such a device, capable of supplying high accuracy and low jitter clocks, as well as featuring multiple integrated features and flexible programmability that make it ideal for a wide range of applications.
The DS21602N is a CLOCK and Carrier Frequency Synthesizer designed to produce low-jitter timing signals from a single 27MHz crystal or oscillator input. The DS21602N uses an elaborate power management system to reduce power consumption to less than 2%. The device is capable of generating clock signals as low as 400Hz and as high as 27 MHz. The DS21602N can also be used as a reference clock generator, providing a carrier frequency frequency of up to 10 GHz.
The DS21602N has several different input and output configurations, including CMOS, LVDS, and a combination of the two. It can also provide frequency lock indication for up to four individual output clocks and programmable power down/halt output pins that allow the user to monitor and control the clock generator\'s power usage.
In addition to providing high-accuracy timing signals, the DS21602N also features an integrated phase-locked loop (PLL) which constantly adjusts the internal clock frequency based on the reference clock input. This makes the device capable of highly stable output frequencies, regardless of variations in the reference clock. It also adds flexibility to the device, as the PLL can be programmed to use different reference frequencies.
