The DS99R106VSX/NOPB is an advanced high-speed serializer/deserializer (SerDes) with integrated channel equalization and signal regeneration. This functionally versatile product is designed to maximize signal integrity, reduce system jitter and minimize layout area over a wide range of data rates and signal conditions. It is also highly integrated with a single chip solution that enables reprogrammable signal rate selection and removable channel equalization. The DS99R106VSX/NOPB is ideal for use in demanding applications such as high-speed links over backplanes, multimode optical links in high-performance networks and multi-Gbps serial interconnects in data centers and cluster computing systems.
The DS99R106VSX/NOPB integrates a low-power, low-jitter, high-frequency multi-level coding SerDes that supports rates from several hundred Mbps to 28 Gbps. The input signal is received at the PLL input which is tuned for a reference frequency supplied at the Reference Input. The SerDes contains a multi-level coding algorithm and equalizer to quickly equalize and clean the signal before it passes onto the enhanced signal regeneration and output section. The CML output delivers a clock-and-data signal that may be connected to a separate receiver or further processed through a programmable signal processing chain. The 2:1 deserializer additionally supports LVDS signal inputs in order to create a complete solution.
The signal regeneration section of the DS99R106VSX/NOPB allows for signal improvement, which is important in applications where the signal to be transmitted must travel through an extended environment such as high-speed interconnects. The signal regeneration can provide an isolated and low-impedance output in order to create high signal integrity data output. The regenerator also incorporates an adjustable signal path such as high-frequency signal peaking, de-emphasis and controllable jitter attenuation.
The DS99R106VSX/NOPB offers programmable output rate selection, allowing a dynamic range in data rate from 250 Mbps to 28 Gbps for serializer and from 250 Mbps to 25 Gbps for deserializer. In addition, the DS99R106VSX/NOPB provides programmable input equalization and adjustable signal regeneration rate to compensate for different transmission lengths, allowing the device to operate in a wide range of signal environments.
The DS99R106VSX/NOPB supports an array of industry standard interfaces such as low voltage differential signaling (LVDS) and BiCMOS outputs. The device can be used as a single-ended serializer/deserializer in communication, optical and mobile backhaul applications. It can also be used in data centers and cluster computing systems as well as data conversion applications, providing maximum signal integrity and jitter performance.
