The DSD1702E/2K is a special purpose integrated circuit that packs a slew of advanced analog-to-digital conversion features into a single package. This entails that incoming analog signals are sampled and stored in a voltage-controlled capacitor, prior to being measured and converted into digital values. Since these capacitors are comprised of thin layers of insulator and a conducting material, their value and accuracy depend largely on the properties of the conducting material.

In addition, the DSD1702E/2K incorporates a low-noise excitation source that is used to drive the voltage-controlled capacitors during the sampling process. This provides the input with a bias voltage that reduces the noise-induced errors that could result from the capacitors’ dielectrics.
