What is DSP10G-TR-E?

DSP10G-TR-E (also called 10-Gigabit Single-Chip Semiconductor Transceiver or 10G SERDES) is a high-performance single-chip transceiver and ESD (electrostatic discharge) protection device for next-generation Ethernet systems. Unlike traditional transceivers that consist of multiple integrated circuits, DSP10G-TR-E is a single-chip architecture that combines multiple components into a single package, simplifying system design and power requirements and reducing system size, complexity, cost and time-to-market.

The integrated transceiver and ESD protection features make the DSP10G-TR-E transceiver ideal for next generation high-speed communication systems such as Gigabit Ethernet, 10 Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel. Its flexible physical layer interfaces enable addressable solutions in high-speed backplanes and system-level serializer/deserializer designs, providing up to 10 Gbps data rates. The DSP10G-TR-E transceiver is also suitable for a variety of industrial, communications and embedded applications, such as Gigabit Ethernet, Optical Communications, high-definition video switching and processing, digital high-speed signal conditioning and 10 Gigabit back-haul transmission systems.

DSP10G-TR-E Working Principle

The DSP10G-TR-E transceiver offers a complete integrated 10Gbps SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer) function in a single-chip CMOS circuit, featuring an ESD protection circuit, an integrated Equalizer and an active power-down mode. The Equalizer automatically compensates for signal degradation and distortion, allowing for a significant reduction in equalization components and yields an ultra-low BER (Bit Error Rate). The integrated power-down feature supports low-power operation and enables the transceiver to meet the stringent power-consumption requirements of many high-speed designs.The device includes four independent LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) transmitter channels with 2.5V input levels and four LVDS receiver channels with 3.3V output levels. The integrated ESD protection circuits protect the LVDS transmitter, receiver and clock lines against damaging electrostatic discharges and surges. The transceiver is compliant with the IEEE802.3 10Gbps Ethernet electrical specifications and supports at least 8 parallel receivers. The on-chip power-down feature also conserves power when the device is not in use.
