Working Principle

DZ540N26KS01 works with a 4-layer structure, which consists of an anode, a PN-junction, and two cathode layers. The anode of the SCR together with the PN-junction behaves like a diode, since it blocks current flow in either of two directions. When a voltage is applied to the gate terminal, it changes the PN-junction so that current is able to flow in both directions through the device. This change does not require any power, so the device has been called a ‘latching switch’. The device starts from OFF state and can be turned ON manually by flowing a pulse current through its gate terminal.

When the device is ON, it acts like a closed switch and current will flow through the device from anode to cathode in either direction. The device stays in ON state even if the voltage is removed from the gate terminal. It will only turn OFF if the current goes below the offstate threshold or when the applied voltage is reversed. The device has a low leakage current in OFF state.

DZ540N26KS01 has a fast operating speed with a low on-state voltage drop. It also offers very low conduction losses allowing it to be used in high frequency switching circuits. The device has an insulation voltage rating up to 800V and surge ratings up to 4A.
