Proximity Sensors are designed to detect the presence or absence of an object in close vicinity to the sensing surface. E2E2-X3D2 is one such proximity sensor which can detect the presence or absence of an object in a very short range of between 2-15mm. The sensor is based on capacitive sensing technology which has a range of up to 15mm.Capacitive Sensing technology uses an active capacitive field to detect target objects. The capacitive field is generated by the capacitor or sensing element. When an object, such as a metal part comes in close proximity to the sensing element, the capacitance of the system increases, thus changing the capacitive field. This change in the capacitive field is detected and used to determine whether the presence or absence of a target object. The E2E2-X3D2 also includes a built-in ambient compensation system which helps to maintain correct sensing performance even in changing environmental conditions.The E2E2-X3D2 also uses a timed high and low signal that is sent back from the target object to determine the presence or absence of the target object. When the object is in close proximity to the sensing element, it will be detected and a high signal will be sent back to the control system. If the object is outside the specified proximity range, then the low signal will be sent back to the control system.
