The EA4525YH evaluation board is a DC/DC and AC/DC (off-line) SMPS, a type of electronic circuit used to convert one form of power to another. In general, SMPS are based on the principle of conversion of DC power into AC power of varying frequencies or vice-versa. The conversion occurs through the use of an inductor and a capacitor along with the switches and power transmission components like transformers and diodes. The main steps followed in an SMPS circuit are rectifier, filter, DC-DC conversion, and voltage regulating/control. The EA4525YH evaluation board includes these steps.
The FAN5361 synchronous boost controller is the heart of the board. It is a high-voltage capable boost converter that features auto restart under fault conditions, an adjustable switching frequency, and incorporates a delay start circuit. During the rectifier stage, the AC input voltage is converted to a DC voltage. The output of the rectifier is then provided to the filter to reduce noise.
