EA8934A

The EA8934A is a member of the Evaluation Boards - DC/DC & AC/DC (Off-Line) SMPS family, and it is used for the evaluation, design and development of high-frequency power solutions for a variety of applications. This document will discuss the application field and working principle of the EA8934A.The EA8934A is a switch mode power supply evaluation board that is suitable for a variety of power supply applications ranging from 18 to 60W of output power. It utilizes a fully integrated controller and power stage to provide high-efficiency and excellent transient response along with a wide input and output range. The EA8934A has been designed to meet the requirements of a range of applicatioans, including industrial, automotive, consumer, and medical, with its wide selection of operating temperature ranges, output voltage and current ranges, and operating frequency.The EA8934A is configured as a single stage non-inverting buck converter with a built-in low EMI filter. The board operates from a wide AC input voltage range of 85-265 VAC and provides an adjustable output voltage range from 2.5-25V. The EA8934A also includes a low-ripple PWM waveform to enable the user to accurately set the output voltage.The EA8934A utilizes a two-phase technique for power conversion. The first stage of the conversion process is the buck switch MOSFET, which is used to switch the input voltage to a lower voltage at a fixed frequency. This lower voltage is then further regulated by the integrated switching controller. The switching controller adjusts the duty cycle of the buck switch to maintain the minimum output voltage under a variety of input voltage and load conditions.The EA8934A also uses an active voltage positioning (AVP) feature to optimize the power efficiency and system performance.
