EFR32MG12P433F1024GM68-CR belongs to the radio frequency (RF) transceiver ICs family, and has a wide range of applications due mostly to its modern technology and diverse functional capabilities. This Miniature Wireless System-on-Chip (mWSoC) works as a single-chip transceiver with integrated power amplification, automatic gain control (AGC) and receiver sensitivity as well as variable data rate support. In the transmit chain, the chip integrates a power amplifier (PA) for higher power output and improved range. On the receive chain, the AGC and receiver sensitivity ensure better signal quality in variable environments, and an advanced perimeter-defense Scheduling System (pDSS) enlarges the reliable communication zone, what makes it ideal for mission-critical applications. Furthermore, the maximum operating frequency of the EFR32MG12 is up to 11 Mbps. Additionally, it supports broadcast and multicast communication as well as the ability to reliably transmit over long distances and in very noisy environments.
The EFR32MG12 comes with a variety of features such as a wide array of modulation schemes, up to 8 receiving channels, up to 64 data packets per second, a wide temperature range (–40°C to 85°C), integrated peripherals such as ADC, UART, and SPI interfaces, 41 general purpose I/O (GPIO) pins, and longer operating range (up to 500 meters). All these features make the EFR32MG12 a great choice for versatile applications in wireless communications.
The EFR32MG12 transceiver works based on the 2.4GHz IEEE 802.15.4 standard, allowing for AES-128 encryption with a highly secure link layer protocol. In order to coordinate the communication with other nodes, the chip uses a proprietary base frequency of 2.41 GHz. Using the Global Positioning System (GPS) or other source of location information, the chip can selectively transmit and receive data or initiate communication in any area of a mesh network.
The chip combines an advanced transmit chain, in which it integrates a power amplifier that adjusts the transmit power over a wide range, with an advanced receive chain, with adjustable sensitivity, allowing for increased gain and extended range of communication.
