The EKC-LM3S3748 is an evaluation board used to develop and test designs built around the ARM Cortex-M3 processor from Texas Instruments. This board is designed to evaluate the capabilities and performance of the LM3S3748 microcontroller in variety of applications. It comes with a 40-pin connector for connection to external targets and features two user push buttons, two LEDs, and an LCD display.
The EKC-LM3S3748 is a low-cost ARM Cortex-M3-based testing platform ideal for cost-sensitive embedded development applications. It comes with the same flash and SRAM of the LM3S3A48. This board provides access to features like 10/100 Ethernet, USB Host and Device, CAN, SPI, SDC, PWM, and DMA.
The board is based on the LM3S3748 microcontroller which features a 32-bit ARM Cortex-M3 core running at up to 40MHz. This processor supports up to 512KB of flash memory, 68KB of SRAM, 32-bit wide GPIO ports, two 10-bit A/D converters, hardware op-amps, temperature and voltage sensors, and a unique I2C slave port. The processor also supports a variety of peripherals, including Ethernet, USB, CAN, SPI, SDC, and PWM.
The working principle of the EKC-LM3S3748 board is straightforward. It operates within the confines of the LM3S3748 microcontroller, running user code. This code is written using the Keil uVision IDE, which is supplied with the board. This allows the user to develop and debug applications on the EKC-LM3S3748 board and quickly test code changes using the uVision simulator.
Once the code is written, it can be compiled to an executable file and loaded onto the board. The memory of the board is divided into sections, with each section corresponding to a certain task. For example, the “Segment 1” section is reserved for user code, while the “Segment 2” section is used to store data and code libraries. The code is then executed on the board, and any output signals can be observed on the board’s I/O ports.
The EKC-LM3S3748 is an excellent evaluation board for developers who need to design and validate cost-sensitive embedded applications. Its combination of a low cost, a wide range of features, and a user-friendly design makes it an ideal platform for prototyping and development. In addition, the board has excellent scalability, which allows it to be used for future projects without the need for modifications.
