The EL1516IS-T13 instrumentation amplifier is a precision, high-performance, low-power, differential amplifier. It is ideal for a wide range of applications including system monitoring, protection, filters, and interface circuits. The EL1516IS-T13 supports a wide range of input voltages and power supply ranges, allowing system designers to easily fit a variety of feedback requirements.The EL1516IS-T13 features a wideband output architecture (500 kHz to 18 GHz), low distortion, low noise, wide input range (0.1 to 40V peak-to-peak range with an ESD protection level of 2KV), and wide common mode range (from 0 to 40V). The EL1516IS-T13 enables a design engineer to combine a wide range of operational amplifiers and buffers, together with the high level of performance to ensure reliable operation in high-resolution analog circuits.The EL1516IS-T13 can be applied in many different ways. It is suitable for low-frequency filters, rectifiers, voltage comparators, current-source circuits and active filters. When used in a filter circuit, it eliminates a number of high order filters and reduces the complexity of the design. In rectifier circuits, it provides high common-mode rejection and low distortion. In voltage comparators, it offers more accurate and faster tracking than conventional devices.The EL1516IS-T13 works by amplifying small input signals which are then applied to an output stage. It amplifies the difference between its two inputs and subtracts the two input signals from each other; thus creating an output signal that is proportional to the difference between the two amplified signals. The EL1516IS-T13 can also be used to convert single-ended signals into differential signals. This is done by having the differential input signals connected to the amplifier’s inputs and having the single-ended input signal connected to one of the amplifier’s inputs in section 2. Then, the amplifier amplifies both the differential and the single-ended inputs by a ratio determined by the amplifier’s gain. The EL1516IS-T13 also has two gain steps. It can be used in a manner that allows the engineer to use the higher gain step to filter out any DC voltage offsets from the input signal.
