EL7516IYZ-T13 is a Pulse-Width Modulated (PWM) Switching Regulator designed to provide regulated DC voltage outputs and has been classified as a DC-DC Switching Regulator. It is an efficient synchronous buck converter step-down regulator that is integrated with internal power FETs to efficiently convert an input voltage of up to 28V to an exact regulated output voltage.
The EL7516IYZ-T13 combines two control systems, a peak current mode and voltage mode control to provide a feedback topology with excellent load and line response characteristics. It is an isolated, unregulated, and non-isolated regulated voltage source configured in buck converter mode. It is also capable of sinking and sourcing both positive and negative current at the outputs.
The EL7516IYZ-T13 supports multiple applications and regulates voltages from 3.3V to 5.0V. It enables reduction in system switching noise, EMI emissions and overall power losses in buck converter based systems.

Working Principle:
In a buck-converter step-down topology, the incoming power supply passes through the rectification, EMI suppressing filter, and main power switch. It is then connected to an inductor placed between VIN and GND, with the output voltage being connected across its terminals. When a positive voltage is applied to the input voltage VIN, the main power switch conducts and the inductor absorbs energy. This stored energy is then dissipated by the output diode D1 and load R1. When the switch turns off, the inductor will discharge the energy stored in it and supply it to the load via the output diode D1.
The current mode control (CMC) of the EL7516IYZ-T13 actively regulates the inductor current, ensuring well behaved turn-on and turn-off characteristics. The CMC reduces the output voltage undershoot and overshoot, thus leading to better EMI performance. Furthermore, the voltage mode control (VMC) of the EL7516IYZ-T13, with built-in spread spectrum, reduces the input current inrush and provides excellent line control, resulting in tight output voltage regulation and very low EMI levels.
The EL7516IYZ-T13 provides anti-creepage protection and short circuit protection with hardware and/or software monitoring, ensuring improved system efficiency and performance. It also contains a soft-start and multi-shot delay start-up circuit to protect the output from unexpected signal surges at the time of power-on.
