This device is attracted to any changes in the output voltage and responds within 100 nanoseconds.
The EL816 optoisolator is built with a single semiconductor chip and has an operating temperature range of -65°C to +125°C. This device is available in a variety of packages, such as DIP (dual inline package), SOIC (small outline integrated circuit) and SMT (surface mount technology). It also has a wide range of input voltage (7 to 40 volts) and a current range of 5 to 50mA.
EL816 Application Fields and Working Principle
EL816 optoisolators are used in a wide variety of applications that require isolation of control circuits from powered circuits, such as industrial automation, medical equipment, telecommunication, automotive, aerospace, robotics, and consumer products. It is also used in electrical applications like digital and analog signal conditioning, and Pulse-width modulated (PWM) control circuits.
When the EL816 optoisolator is energized, the current through the LED generates enough light to turn on the photovoltaic transistor. This closes the electrical connection between the control circuitry and the powered circuitry, making it possible to control the powered circuit without creating electric arcs. Since the optoisolator provides electrical isolation, it prevents electrical feedback and reduces the potential of electrical noise.
The EL816 optoisolator features excellent noise immunity and a high current transfer ratio (CTR). It also has a low on-state resistance (Rdson) and low power consumption. The optoisolator’s low voltage operation enables it to be used in AC and DC power sources without requiring additional external components.
