Optoisolators are special electronic components that are used to isolate electric signals from one circuit to another. This is done by using a light emitting diode (LED) in one circuit to produce an optical signal at a frequency determined by the electrical signal and by using a photodiode, phototransistor or other photosensitive element in the other circuit to receive and convert the optical signal back into an electrical signal. The EL817 (S1)(C)(TD)-VG optoisolator is a particular type of optoisolator which has a transistor photovoltaic output.
The EL817 (S1)(C)(TD-VG) optoisolator is specifically designed for providing electrical isolation between two separate circuits when used in power conversion, power management, or other industrial control applications. It features a 1.2A internal photodiode plus a foam enhanced 680nm High Input Sensitivity (HIS) structure. It also has a transistor photovoltaic output, which simplifies the circuit design while providing greater noise immunity. This is useful in keeping the circuit noise-free without the need of additional components.
The EL817 (S1)(C)(TD)-VG optoisolator has the advantage of providing a high gain of up to 200, an extremely low leakage current of only 0.2uA and a wide operating temperature range of -40 to +85°C. The optoisolator package is also designed to have superior heat dissipation, making it suitable for high power applications. It also has a long lifetime with over 5 million switching cycles and exceptional EMC performance due to its excellent noise suppression capability.
The EL817 (S1)(C)(TD)-VG optoisolator works by using an LED as the input signal source and a photodiode as the receiver for the optically coupled signal. The photodiode receives the light signal from the LED when the LED emits light, and then converts the light signal into an electrical signal which is sent to the output transistor. The output transistor amplifies and passes on the electrical signal, thus providing electrical isolation between the input and output signal circuits.
The EL817 (S1)(C)(TD)-VG optoisolator is an ideal solution for providing electrical isolation between two circuits in industrial control and power management applications.
