The ELM231100 Series of terminal blocks offers a wide variety of compact, tool-less and IDC-compatible terminal blocks that can be used in a wide variety of applications. This terminal block series includes products with various current and voltage ratings, and in sizes from tiny 8-pole terminals to high-density 40-pole terminals. All blocks are designed for simple, pluggable contact insertion and optimized for right-angle or in-line mounting.

Application Field and Working Principle:

The ELM231100 Series are mostly used in industrial and automotive devices, for interconnect applications in the range from 0.2mm² / AWG 22 to 2.5mm² / AWG 14, and up to 40A current. Due to their small size, they can fit inside the electronics assemblies where space is limited. This makes them ideal for a variety of applications, including automotive, consumer, industrial, and medical.

The ELM231100 Series terminal blocks have an "Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC)" technology, which requires no stripping of the signal wire. This is why it is used for wire-to-board connectivity as the use of IDC terminal blocks improves the productivity and reduces the cost in the assembly process. An IDC connection is formed when a wire is inserted into the slots of a terminal block’s insulation displacement contact (IDC) pockets. A pair of blades that cut through the wire insulation are wounded on the top and bottom of the terminal block, forming a secure connection with the wire contact. The ELM231100 Series terminal blocks also feature a large contact area, minimizing contact resistance and eliminating the risk of contact wear.

The ELM231100 Series terminal blocks are also designed with a push-in direct connection feature that eliminates the need for a separate tool. The connection between the wire and the terminal block can be made by inserting the wire into the IDC pockets, allowing for a quick and secure connection. With its tool-less, spring-cage design, the ELM231100 Series terminal blocks offer a secure connection in small spaces and makes the assembly process cost-effective.

The ELM231100 Series terminal blocks are UL Recognized components and meet or exceed UL and CSA requirements for a wide variety of applications. The UL 94 V-0 rated materials ensure that the terminal blocks will stand up to extreme temperatures, vibration, and shock.
