Optoisolators are optoelectronic devices, which are essentially solid-state switches to isolate two circuits electrically while allowing them to interact via light. The ELW2611S(TA)-V is unique to the market, with the ability to offer five types of logic outputs.

The ELW2611S(TA)-V optocoupler uses a Two-channel AlGaAs LED (Light Emitting Diode) optically coupled to an IC (Integrated Circuit) chip containing two Schmitt Triggers. When applied with an input voltage, the input is isolated from the output and the signal is transmitted from one side to the other as a digital data signal. The chip is contained in a single package that includes I/O leads.

The ELW2611S(TA)-V optocoupler can be used in a wide variety of applications, including providing a digital input signal to logic gates, driving a digital parallel type logic circuit, and converting a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter protocol signal to a digital logic signal. The device also has applications in interfacing to microprocessors with Schmitt triggers, providing digital flip-flop functions, providing enable/disable signals, and data buffering.

The ELW2611S(TA)-V optoisolator has a high output voltage and is capable of driving 5V logic families, which offers greater flexibility compared to other logic optoisolators, such as the EL1700. The optoisolator has a very fast output response, due to its Schmitt trigger configuration, and can handle input frequencies of up to 200kHz.
