A single rectifier diode, also called an EM01V0 diode, is a solid state device that is used to convert alternating current (AC) to direct current (DC). While similar in function to traditional rectifier diodes, EM01V0 is designed to handle higher voltage levels and is more efficient than other diode types. This efficiency is due to the design of the diode itself, which minimizes the heat dissipation during normal operation.
The EM01V0 diode consists of a single piece of silico-manganese (SiMn) junction material that has been heavily doped to form a P-type semiconductor. This P-type semiconductor contacts an N-type semiconductor at the middle junction.
