ESP32-PICO-KIT Application Field and Working Principle

The ESP32-PICO-KIT is a powerful, low-cost, low-power development board for the ESP32-PICO series of microcontrollers (MCUs). It was introduced to the market in September 2019 and is becoming increasingly popular among developers of wearable and IoT applications.

As a ready-to-go development platform, this board contains an on-board ESP32-PICO series MCU with 128KB ROM and 4KB RAM, a low power Wi-Fi system, a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) system, and an embedded C language software development environment IDEs.

ESP32-PICO-KIT is well suited for prototyping applications built around the ESP32-PICO processor and its peripherals. Working Principle

The ESP32-PICO-KIT evaluation and development board uses a combination of hardware and software components to allow users to create and debug embedded applications. The development board includes an ESP32-PICO system-on-chip (SoC), power-on/reset circuit, programmable USB-UART bridge, LED indicators, a push button for resetting the device, and a micro SD card slot.

The software development environment, provided by the ESP32-PICO-KIT, is based on popular open-source Arduino IDE and the free ESP-IDF SDK. The development platform provides an easy way to develop and debug embedded applications, by providing a comprehensive set of tools including a GCC compiler, Visual Studio Code, and a JTAG debugger.

The board includes integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, allowing users to quickly connect to the Internet to send sensor data, or interact with their smartphones via BLE. The ESP32-PICO-KIT also includes an SPI flash memory, which provides long-term storage of user applications, while the embedded 4MB DRAM can be used for storing programs during debugging.
