Baluns (balanced-to-unbalanced) are passive electronic components mainly used for signal transmission and impedance matching. Baluns are predominantly used to convert unbalanced signals to balanced signals, giving them excellent performance in applications such as audio and video transmission, as well as other applications where electrical resistance must be accurately matched. baluns are especially handy when working with electrical equipment that has both balanced and unbalanced inputs and outputs. For example, a radio may require a balanced input but the output of a speaker could be unbalanced.

ETC1-1T-2TR is a popular type of balun which is primarily designed for transmission of audio and video signals from medium frequency to ultra high frequency (UHF) range.
