Working principle:The EU01ZV rectifier is a single-phase, full-wave rectifier. The device is designed to operate in either forward- or reverse-biased modes. In forward-biased operation, a forward biasing voltage is applied across the diode, allowing a current to flow through it. A diode can be modeled as two series-connected parts– the junction and a small equivalent series resistance. The current that flows through the diode is the sum of two terms: the diode’s minority carrier recombination current and the diffusion current. The recombination current is the result of the injection of minority carriers into the junction by the applied voltage and is responsible for the losses in the device. The diffusion current is a result of the constant redistribution of majority carriers from the regions of high concentration to the regions of low concentration.

The diode also displays a dynamic impedance as a function of time, as a current flowing through it increases the voltage across it due to the device’s parasitic resistance, resulting in a decrease in the forward bias current. This effect is dependent on the temperature of the diode and the magnitude of the applied voltage. As the diode’s temperature increases, its dynamic threshold voltage decreases, increasing the recombination current. As the magnitude of the applied voltage increases, the recombination current increases, resulting in increased voltage drop across the diode.
