The EVAL-AD5061EBZ is an evaluation board for Analog Devices’ AD5061 Digital to Analog Converter (DAC). This board is designed to accurately evaluate the AD5061 in a wide range of applications covering from direct digital synthesis (DDS) to current loop interface systems (CLIS).The AD5061 DAC is a quad, single-channel, unipolar 19-bit DAC (including sign bit). It provides a high-accuracy, low-glitch, low-noise quadrature output over a wide frequency range, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, including sonar systems, control systems, and process control applications.The EVAL-AD5061EBZ evaluation board features two output ports: a unipolar DAC port and a CLIS port. The unipolar DAC port is designed to provide a wide, accurate voltage range to drive differentials DAC outputs, while the CLIS port is optimized for higher-power loads and has lower output impedance for faster slewing rates. The board also includes a fast 4-wire SPI interface that allows for advanced features like synchronization, calibration, and monitoring.The AD5061 DAC provides a fast, low-glitch switching between both outputs, allowing the user to select the preferred configuration with minimal risk of losing any accuracy. It also has a low current draw, allowing for extended battery life or power savings in portable applications.In terms of the working principle, the AD5061 DAC relies on the principle of an analog-to-digital converter (ADC), where an analog voltage is converted into a digital signal with the use of an ADC. This digital signal is then fed into the DAC, which produces a corresponding analog voltage output.The DAC architecture uses a proprietary digital calibration technique to ensure accurate output voltage levels over the full operating temperature range and over time. This technique involves the use of digital elements which provide precision output scaling and keep the output steady.To use the AD5061 DAC, the evidence board requires an external reference voltage (5V) and an input clock (1 MHz). Once these are connected to the board, the DAC can then be used immediately.
