EVALLED-ICL8002G-B2 Application Field and Working Principle
The EVALLED-ICL8002G-B2 is an evaluation board for LED drivers released by Chilisin group in 2020. The target of this evaluation board is to provide a platform to evaluate the features and performances of their products. This evaluation board features a range of features and is suitable for evaluating high-power LED drivers in various applications, such as automotive lighting products, office lighting, industrial lighting, urban lighting and so on.
Application Field
This Evaluation board is suitable for evaluating LED driver solutions with power ratings ranging from 5W to 35W. It can be used for various applications, such as office lighting, home lighting, industrial lighting, urban lighting products, automotive lighting, display products and so on. This evaluation board also provides all necessary components to generate a successful working demonstration.
The features of this board include PFC (AFC) function, dimming function, over-temperature protection, over-current protection, over-voltage protection, under-voltage protection, soft-start and over-power protection. It also has an adjustable output power and a selectable multi-level power output. The user can also select different operating modes such as constant current, switched mode or peak current mode, which are essential features to meet power requirements.
Working Principle
The working principle of the EVALLED-ICL8002G-B2 evaluation board is based on the concept of PFC(AFC), which stands for Power Factor Correction (Active Front-end). This technique is used for regulating the input current waveform of an AC power source in order to achieve the desired power factor. The power factor is the ratio of the real power absorbed by the load to the apparent power drawn from the source. The desired power factor is usually set to "1" (perfectly synchronized) for efficient operation of the board.
The board is also capable of selecting different operating modes such as constant current, switched mode or peak current mode. In constant current mode, a stable output voltage and current can be obtained. In switched mode or peak current mode, the output power of the board can be adjusted depending on the load conditions. The evaluation board also features a dimming function with a range of 0-100%, which can be used for controlling the LED brightness.
The board also has an over-temperature protection function which limits the working temperature of the board to ensure its safe operation.
