EVAL-ADXRS800Z-EY, an evaluation board for sensing applications, is designed to make sensing operations easy and more productive. This advanced board includes a high performance ADXRS800Z sensor, which delivers superior sensing accuracy even in harsh operational environments. This evaluation board supports several different modes of operation, including a single-axis version with selectable high resolution output, and a dual-axis version with full support for tilt and rotation sensing.The ADXRS800Z is an advanced self-test rate-gyro acceleration sensor which integrates high performance sensing capabilities with a low power digital signal processor (DSP) and a temperature compensated MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical System) sensing element. The board comes with a proprietary high-level design, to improve the overall performance and the sampling components. The sensing element of the ADXRS800Z is a precision gyroscope designed to provide precise and accurate measurements of the angular rate of the board. This gyro is designed to measure angular acceleration in the range of ±200°/sec (±200 rads/sec).The evaluation board includes a microcontroller, which provides the core program that controls the board. The evaluation board also supports user-defined data acquisition coverage. This coverage can be used by the microcontroller to adjust the sensitivity of the sensor, allowing for dynamic adjustment of the sensing range even when the sensing environment is changing. Additionally, the board can be configured to interface with other peripheral devices, to provide additional monitoring, or to enable remote control of the board.In addition to being used for a variety of sensing applications, this evaluation board can also be used for development of real-time embedded applications. The board provides support for user-defined programming and debugging of applications, and provides access to on-board real-time debugging tools. Working principleThe EVAL-ADXRS800Z-EY evaluation board is an advanced sensing platform designed to make sensing operations easy and more productive. The board’s main components are the high-performance ADXRS800Z sensor and the microcontroller. The sensor provides precise and accurate measurements of the angular rate of the board. The microcontroller provides the core program that controls the board, and it can be configured to interface with other peripheral devices as well. The ADXRS800Z sensor works with the help of a MEMS silicon plate that is printed with strain gauges. When the plate is subjected to angular acceleration, the strain gauges measure the forces which are then coupled to the sensors. The signals from the strain gauges are converted into electrical signals by the sensor. This data is then processed by a digital signal processor (DSP) and stored in memory, where it can be read out by the microcontroller and used to control the board.The board’s interface allows users to control the sensitivity of the sensor to adjust the range of measurement, which helps improve the accuracy of the sensor.
