Evaluation and Demonstration Boards and Kits
The EVAL-CN0185-EB1Z is an evaluation board and kit intended to provide a platform for users to evaluate high power density ac-dc converters. It is a compact, ready to use prototyping solution and provides the flexibility to control the output voltage by using controllers with various PFC and PWM algorithms. It includes a PFC solution featuring the 32 bit Coldfire® V2 high performance core microcontroller that is capable of handling the delicate design of the PFC Boost. The board also includes two sets of keyswitch, pots and connectors, allowing users to quickly setup the desired working environment.

The EVAL-CN0185-EB1Z is applicable to a variety of applications, Including telecom systems, consumer and pc servers, automotive systems, Industrie 4.0, building automation, medical equipment, multi-phase applications, green energy, as well as multivibrator, dimming and mode applications.
Working Principle
The board uses a three-phase PFC solution with a 32-bit Coldfire® V2 microcontroller as the main controller. The board includes two sets of keyswitch, pots and connectors, allowing users to quickly setup the desired working environment. The onboard 5V and 3V3 supplies are regulated to stabilize the power and increase system reliability. The EVAL-CN0185-EB1Z also contains an optimized stepdown DC-DC converter to provide the regulated output voltage and current to the application.
The design of the EVAL-CN0185-EB1Z uses the peak current controlling techbique in order to optimize the control of the power factor and reduce the harmonic emission from the load. It also includes a programmable output voltage trim control for precise output voltage regulation. The board uses a field-oriented controll algorithm with prorammed open loop speed and slop controll for the best performance in a constantly changing power supply. It also includes a high speed pulse-width modulator with Synchronous Rectification and an amplifier to enable accurate control of power losses. The board also has a USB interface, allowing users to easily interface the board with host devices to program and monitor performance data.
The EVAL-CN0185-EB1Z is a highly integrated single board evaluation and demonstration platform for designers to quickly prototype their power factor correcting or multi-stage power supply application. It is optimized for both single phase and full-bridge applications, with accuracy and flexibility in power management. With its support for ARM Cortex-M3 and Coldfire V2 MCU core and on-board PWM generator, the board provides designers with an effective platform to evaluate and demonstrate power solutions.
