The EVAL-CN0399-SDPZ evaluation board combines the advantages of the AD9371 RF transceiver, ADRV9009 wideband transceiver, and FMCOMMS5-EBZ field-programmable-gate-array (FPGA) module. It is designed to support system development for radio frequency (RF) applications, from radio transceiver down conversion, to digital signal processing and software-defined radio systems.
The EVAL-CN0399-SDPZ is primarily designed for a wide range of wireless communications-based applications including software defined radios (SDR), radar systems, digital communications, and cellular base stations. The FPGA module, featured on the board, provides an ideal platform for system design engineers to implement digital signal processing, filtering and other radio frequency functions quickly and efficiently. The board is extendable, for the addition of antenna splitters, amplifiers, RF switches and other hardware, to increase versatility and to improve RF performance.
The board consists of two main sections, that of the AD9371 RF transceiver and the ADRV9009 wideband transceiver. The AD9371 transceiver is suitable for RF transmit and receive applications in frequencies up to 6GHz. The wideband transceiver consists of dual channels and operates in frequencies between 70MHz and 6GHz. RF input and output ports are provided for each section, and two connectors are provided on each side of each section to support external hardware.
Connectivity between these two main sections is through the FMCOMMS5-EBZ module, which includes an TI MCU, FI FIR core and a TDC (Time to Digital Converter). The FMCOMMS5-EBZ also provides a variety of high speed serial links such as LVDS, JTAG, and a Gigabit Ethernet port for the transfer of data between the RF transceiver and the wideband transceiver. Additionally, the FPGA module includes two audio DAC/ADC ICs to support audio applications.
The EVAL-CN0399-SDPZ evaluation board supports a full range of development tools, provided by both Analog Devices and Xilinx, which are designed to help system designers quickly and easily implement their desired functionality. These tools include FPGA designs, software libraries, and development platforms. In addition, the transceivers on board are function- and parameter-configurable and adjustable, allowing developers to achieve desired performance.
The EVAL-CN0399-SDPZ RF evaluation and development kit is a powerful tool for the development of wide-range RF applications. With its flexible FPGA module, robust transceivers, along with a suite of tools, designers are able to reduce time to market and achieve desired performance.
