This advanced thermal imaging technology enables the camera to accurately detect extremely weak heat signatures, such as those emitted from infrared sources. The camera is capable of detecting temperatures in the range of -20°C to 400°C, with a resolution of up to 60 x 60 pixels and sensitivity of up to 80mK. This makes the technology well-suited for applications in various industries such as security, environmental monitoring, surveillance, machine vision and process control. The EVB90640-41, with its integrated STM32F411RE microcontroller board, allows for user customization of the camera’s lenses, filters, and image processing algorithms.
The EVB90640-41 board’s working principle is quite simple; the thermal camera module captures the incoming thermal signals from the environment and relays the data to the microcontroller board. The image data sent to the microcontroller board from the camera module is processed by the STM32F411RE’s onboard image processing libraries. These libraries can be used to customize the image quality and accuracy of the camera, such as adjusting the gain, integration time, images size, and image clarity. Once the image processing is completed, the processed image is sent to the host PC via the board’s USB Serial or WiFi by Ethernet.
