The F1975EVBI is a RF Evaluation and Development Kits, Boards used for testing wireless products that measure the performance of sub-systems and components. The information gathered from these tests can be used to identify how device performance can be improved for its intended applications.
The F1975EVBI comprises the complete hardware needed to perform the testing from the digital interface to the RF antenna impedance. The kit includes a receive Base Station Utility Board (BUBX510) which includes an optimized RF transceiver teamed with an easy-to-use host PC GUI.
The EBI-RX board lies at the heart of the F1975EVBI, offering a powerful direct-conversion receiver. This board is used to digitally down-convert incoming signals from base station, transmitters, antennas and to convert, quantize and analyse digital RF channels. Furthermore, it will allow for the highest speed digitizing of incoming RF signals.
The working principles of the F1975EVBI can be described such that the antenna transmits a signal which is modulated by the input signal to create a high frequency response. This response contains information about the signal source such as its frequency, amplitude, and phase. This signal is then received by the EBI-RX board where it is amplified and digitized for analysis.
To use the F1975EVBI the input can be driven either from the BUBX510 board or from a direct signal (with a drive of up to +13 dBm). Once the signal is received the EBI-RX board will digitize the signal, before undergoing fast-Fourier transformation (FFT) and frequency analysis. FFT is used to generate a frequency spectrum in order to identify various components of the signal.
The F1975EVBI is able to measure signals in a variety of fields including: cellular systems, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, 3G, 3.5G, and beyond, satellite systems and cognitive radio. It is also able to measure signals from 5.725 GHz to 6.425 GHz, as well as signals over various modulation schemes. In addition to this the F1975EVBI also has a built-in tracker which can be used to determine the location of the target source of a signal.
The F1975EVBI is compatible with certain MATLAB and LabView functions, making it easy to create a user interface. In addition, it comes with a library of over a hundred functions, allowing the user to quickly program a GUI to control the board. Such functions include baseband, analog, modulation, signal processing and spectral analysis.
