FAN2310MPX Application Field and Working Principle

The FAN2310MPX is an integrated DC/DC switching regulator that provides a regulated output voltage with low noise and minimal component count. The device is suitable for a wide range of applications in the industrial, consumer and automotive markets, including cell phones, tablets, e-readers, and many other portable devices.

FAN2310MPX has been specifically designed for low-cost, low-noise, and high-efficiency DC/DC switching regulator applications. The device operates from 2.5V to 5.5V input voltage range and a wide fixed output voltage range from 5V to 30V, making it easy to use in consumer and industrial applications.

The FAN2310MPX features a proprietary Power Sense TM technology which allows for a precise voltage regulation over a wide temperature range. It also has a low quiescent current and low EMI, making the device suitable for portable, digital and wireless applications.

The FAN2310MPX is a step-up DC/DC converter that uses a switching transistor and two inductors to generate a precise regulated output voltage. The two inductors are connected in series to form a flyback winding. The switching transistor is turned on when the output voltage falls to its set point, allowing the switching transistor to charge the flyback winding. As the flyback winding is charged, the transistor is slowly turned off until the magnetic field collapses, creating an output voltage.

The FAN2310MPX features an adjustable peak current limit and a programmable switching frequency that can be adjusted to extend battery life or ignore input source noise. It also includes an over-voltage protection, under-voltage lockout, current-limit protection, and over-temperature protection.
