Working Principle

The FEP6AT-E3/45 is a 4 pair dual common cathode rectifier which is mainly composed of four rectifiers internally connected to one common cathode. The rectifiers create an AC voltage waveform of varying voltage and current magnitude and they are used to convert AC voltage into DC voltage. The waveform is a result of the internals of the diode, which allow current to flow through in one direction only. The FEP6AT-E3/45 can handle loads up to 800V and current up to 2A.

The working principle of the FEP6AT-E3/45 is simple. It consists of four diodes which are connected to the same cathode and opposite anode. When the AC voltage waveform rises from the ground to positive, current flows from the positive side of the waveform to the negative side. However, when the waveform drops from the positive to the negative, the current does not flow as the FEP6AT-E3/45 is a unidirectional device. This rectification process produces a rectified voltage waveform from which usable DC voltage can be obtained.
