The FG4403 is a gain antenna designed for the RF Antenna field. Typically, RF Antenna antennas are used to receive radio signals from various directions and in different directions. This antenna is a base station antenna, also known as an array antenna, with its primary purpose being to provide high gain and narrow beamwidths with the aim of enhancing communication performance. This antenna is designed to be used for wide range applications such as point-to-point(PTP) links, private mobile radio (PMR) networks, digital broadcast radio, and police/military communication systems. One of the major advantages of this type of antenna is its comparatively low price.
The FG4403 antenna is an eight-element antenna with a four-sided parallel array configuration. The antenna is composed of a long rectangular dipole driven element and seven parasitic shorting elements. Each of these is responsible for radiation in an individual sector, allowing for a total of 360° coverage in azimuth. The different sectors are connected to the dipoles via shorting pins which are then soldered onto the dipole.
This antenna has a gain of 8.2dBi in the θ-plane and a 6.95dBi in the ϕ-plane with a half-power beamwidth of 21° and 28° respectively. The VSWR is less than 1.5:1 and the radiation pattern is symmetrical. The FG4403 antenna is designed to be mounted on a pole or any type of structure and can be used for both line of sight (LOS) and near line of sight (NLOS) communications. The gain of this antenna is lower than many other antennas in the same frequency range, however it is still an effective solution in many situations.
The antenna is intended to be used in the range of 400MHz to 4GHz, making it a versatile antenna for multiple applications. Power handling capacity per sector is up to 25W, which is useful for applications requiring high-power output. This antenna has a compact size and easy installation process, which makes it an ideal choice for a wide variety of applications.
To understand how this antenna works, it’s important to look at the way the different elements interact when an RF signal is received. The driven element is the main element of the antenna and is responsible for the reception of signals. When a signal is received, it is transferred to the other elements of the antenna, known as the parasitic elements, which are located around the driven element. These elements work together to create a radio-wave radiation pattern such that all the radiation is focused in the desired direction. The radiation from each parasitic element depends on its distance from the driven element and the shape and size of the elements.
In addition to the gain and beamwidth, the FG4403 Antenna also features an excellent return loss value and high efficiency. This ensures better performance in terms of range and resistance to interference. This antenna is a great choice for many applications in the RF Antenna field, especially for PTP links, PMR networks, digital broadcast radio, and police/military communication systems. It is lightweight and easy to install, and its effective radiation pattern helps to achieve better communication performance.
