The FLZ3V0B is a series of zener single diodes developed by Taiwan Semiconductor Co. The series offers zener breakdown voltage choices from 3.3V to 18V. Working Principle of FLZ3V0B:

FLZ3V0B diodes work by employing a reverse breakdown voltage phenomenon. This phenomenon allows current to flow when the applied reverse voltage (VR) is greater than or equal to the specified breakdown voltage (VBR). The reverse current is then limited by the zener structure. By carefully controlling the breakdown voltage and cathode-to-anode spacing of the device, the characteristics of the zener diode are optimized for a wide variety of applications.

In addition to the regular zener action, there are two other operating modes available with the FLZ3V0B series: avalanche and saturation. When using avalanche mode, the current is limited to a maximum of the Ma rating specified for the device. In this mode, additional thermal dissipation is required to prevent the device from entering saturation. In contrast, the saturation mode is characterized by a high forward voltage with an almost independent current which is limited only by the ILimit value. This mode allows for improved system reliability as the current is saved from any overloading.
