Working Principle

The FOD4116 optoisolator works by using an optical signal to control a load. It consists of a photosensitive device (a photo diode) and a power switching device (a triac or SCR). The photo diode senses the optical signal coming from the input, which is typically a logic-level voltage. The device then generates a control current in response to this input signal.
