FOD8383 has various applications in isolation debugging and gate driving. With its electrical characteristics, it is often used in circuits where galvanic isolation is required to prevent ground loops and system interferences. As an electronic isolation device, FOD8383 can be used in systems where galvanic isolation between the two sides of the circuit is necessary for current and voltage protection. It is often used in the isolation debugging of single-ended or differential signal transmission, isolation protection for signal control and so on.
FOD8383 is a foamable, small-sized optocoupler/isoMOSFET. Its working principle is based on optically transmitting energy that is switched by an electrical signal. It consists of a light-emitting device and an integrated photo-MOSFET controlled by the voltage at the input side, and the voltage is stepped down by the insulation of the optocoupler on the output side. The output current of FOD8383 can be controlled according to the impedance of the output side, and the gate driving level can be adjusted at will according to the input parameters.
FOD8383’s gate-drive ability is similar to that of a power MOSFET in the sense that it has the same fast response time, low gate charge and low gate capacitance. This makes it suitable for high-speed applications and makes it possible for FOD8383 to be used as a switching regulator, pulse-width modulated system, DC-DC converter, synchronous rectification and so on. It also can be used for noise filter by withstanding high temperature, radiation and high frequency. Its working frequency range from 8kHz to 20MHz.
FOD8383 possesses very low output capacitance in comparison to other opto isolators, and its driving current is twice as much as that of other opto isolators. These features make FOD8383 an ideal choice for high speed li-fi applications. It is also well suited for use in device management or controlling systems, where frequency response is required over wide voltage and current ranges. Moreover, its small package size also makes it convenient for PCB placement in space constrained applications.
