FST16233MEA is a Logic-Signal Switches, Multiplexers, Decoders component featuring 1:16 multiplexed transmission, low-voltage differential signaling and low-power operation, designed for digital metro and storage applications. FST16233MEA consists of a multiplexer and a receiver, allowing data to be transmitted at 1.25 Gbps on 16 different Biphase Mark Decoder (BMD) lines while consuming only 3.2 mA of power. The multiplexer accepts a data stream at 1.25 Gbps and converts it into 1:16 multiplexed signals, one for each BMD line. The corresponding receiver accepts a differential signal from each BMD line and reconstructs the original data stream.
The working principle of FST16233MEA is based on two components: the multiplexer and the receiver.
The multiplexer is a two-wire bus multiplexer and can accept data from up to 4 sets of four logically different signals and convert them into 16 different differential transmission signals. In addition to selection of whether to transmit each of the four sets of signals, the multiplexer can also provide primitive error detection, selectable level of data coding, and selectable output signal return loss parameters.
The receiver is a differential signal receiver and can receive up to 16 different sets of differential signals and reconstruct the original data stream. It provides either direct decoding or signal decoding with signal processing. The decoding process is capable of detecting and decoding signal errors, signal return loss, signal coding, and signal transmission line loss.
