It contains an 8-bit control register and 128K bits of memory, organized into 32K eight-bit words. The device is write-protected and requires a low power-up current for wiping data, making it suitable for battery-powered devices.The device operates in one of two states; the first being the write mode and the second being the read mode. In the write mode, data can be written to the device either through a block write of up to 32 bytes or through the random-access write of one byte at a time. In the read mode, the device can be read either a byte at a time or a block of bytes.Data is written or retrieved from the device using the I2C serial interface with two connectors, namely SDA (Serial Data) and SCL (Serial Clock). The I2C Master issues a write or read command to the EEPROM, which responds by initiating a write/read operation. The data is then read/written to/from the EEPROM using the I2C protocol.
