Logic - Translators, Level Shifters form a class of semiconductor devices which enable simple and reliable interfacing between two different logic families operating at different logic voltage levels. The FXM2IC102L8X is a single channel unidirectional translator which is designed for bidirectional communication between 1.8V and 3.3V systems. It is a low power, small footprint IC in an 8-pin SOIC package which is ideal for applications where board space is a constraint.

The FXM2IC102L8X consists of separate power and logic sections. The power section provides a low-noise, regulated 1.8V voltage source with a tiny shutdown current of less than 5μA. The two MOSFETs act like switches to change the logic states of the signals. The diodes limit the current that can flow through the MOSFETs. This eliminates the need for a level-shifting circuit with separate power supplies.

The FXM2IC102L8X is designed for bidirectional communication between 1.8V and 3.3V logic families. It has an operating range of -0.3 to +3.6V with typical switching time of 40ns. The device is also capable of providing a glitch free transition between the logic families. Due to its small size and low power consumption, the FXM2IC102L8X is ideal for applications where board space is a constraint.
