The MAX6618AUB+ is a single-supply monolithic CMOS logic-level translators and level shifters designed to translate between two voltage and logic levels of 2.7V to 5.5V, with low voltage drop and low charge injection. These devices can be used to convert logic levels between the 5V TTL and 3.3V CMOS logic families, and can support a wide range of data transfer protocols. Their low power consumption and low input and output capacitance make them suitable for many low-power applications.
The MAX6618AUB+ features two voltage levels for its logic inputs, low (2.2V to 0.8V) and high (3.3V to 5.5V). These logic inputs are connected directly to external sources, which are typically the TTL or CMOS logic signals. The externally connected logic signals can be converted to the desired TTL/CMOS logic level as long as the input voltage is within the specified voltage range of 2.7V to 5.5V. The MAX6618AUB+ has two function modes: VL-Level mode and VH-Level mode. In VH-Level mode, the logic input is interpreted as low when it is above the low threshold range and high when it falls below the high threshold range.
The MAX6618AUB+ features an open drain (INT/DnA) output. In VL-Level mode, this output is driven high when the input logic is low and pulled low when the logic is high. In VH-Level mode, the output is driven low when the logic is low and pulled high when the logic is high. This output can be used to latch data, for example, when one of the data signals is in a 4-bit shifted format. The open drain output can drive any buffer/connector with up to a 2.7V maximum output voltage.
The MAX6618AUB+ also has an ENABLE/DISABLE pin, which can be used to control the logic conversion functions of the device. When ENABLE is set to logic high, the logic conversions are active and the logic inputs will be converted accordingly. When ENABLE is set to logic low, the device will ignore any input logic and the output will be held in its current state.
In addition to the logic conversion functions of the MAX6618AUB+, it can also be used for charging/discharging applications. Its level shifting capability allows for charging and discharging of capacitors, pulses and other growth resistors at the output pin. Furthermore, its power supply pins are also capable of providing power from the input voltage source directly to the output of the device, thus allowing for the powering of multiple components in a system.
The MAX6618AUB+ is well suited for 3.3V and 5.0V logic level conversion, low power control applications, and general logic level shifting solutions.
