MP15B is a commonly used type of bridge rectifier, which is a kind of diode and has a great application field in our everyday life. It is a four-terminal semiconductor diode device with a bridge configuration. This type of diode can make the AC voltage rectified, and then become a DC voltage output. MP15B has wide application field in AC/DC power supplies, UPS, Welders, charge/discharge circuit control, AC/DC motor drives, and various kinds of rectification control systems. It is can be used as a protective device to protect sensitive electrical systems or devices from being damaged by excessive spikes in AC power.The MP15B bridge rectifier can convert an unpolarized AC voltage into a DC voltage or surge current. Its working principle is to divide the AC sine wave into two separate halves and then supply it to each diode bridge arm. A diode bridge arm consists of four diodes, configured in such way that two of them are in series and the other two diodes are in parallel. The two diodes in series will pass a current only in one direction, while the other two diodes in parallel will pass a current in both directions. This way when an AC voltage is applied to the bridge rectifier, the diodes in series will only conduct current in one direction, while the diodes in parallel will conduct current in both directions. This will make the current in the circuit unidirectional, resulting in the given AC voltage getting rectified, and then producing a DC voltage output. MP15B bridge rectifiers have some advantages in the field of applications. Compared with the general rectification bridge and other kinds of bridge rectifiers, it has less input current ripple, low forward voltage drop and high speed of operation. In addition, it can also reduce the acoustic emission, because of its low as well as lower reverse transfers. All these advantages make MP15B bridge rectifiers a very popular choice for AC/DC power supply, UPS, charge/discharge control, and AC/DC motor drive applications.MP15B bridge rectifiers also have some disadvantages. For example, it has relatively high forward voltage drop, which means that it wastes a lot of energy.
