Working Principle

Unlike other types of flash memory, in GD25Q32CTIG serial flash, the data is accessed through an SPI-bus-compatible serial port. The chip communicates with an external host, responding to each instruction encoded with an 8-bit command code, 8- or 32-bit address, and 8-bit data transfers. The data are written 1 byte at a time, with no additional overhead. The chip supports up to 32-bit addressing, so it can address up to 4M-bits of data.

One of the unique features of GD25Q32CTIG is its low-power modes. These power saving modes allow the system to reduce power consumption by suspending control logic and memory arrays. Once the system enters one of the power-saving modes, the chip will remain in that state until incited by an external signal from the host. This eliminates the need for external power switching circuits, which can increase the power efficiency and reliability of the system.
