GDP12S060D is a single diode rectifier, which is a tubular structure with extremely low forward voltage drop, high frequency operation and high surge forward current capability. The GDP12S060D is designed for discrete rectifier applications in power conversion, battery charging and EMI filters. It is ideal for use as a freewheeling diode, secondary diode, bypass diode, polarity protection diode, curing diode, oscilloscope diode and rectifier diode.

The GDP12S060D is designed with a proprietary dual junction Schottky process featuring a virtual edge termination that eliminates the need for external guard rings, resulting in a high temperature performance with much lower dynamic resistance and much better reverse voltage capability. Since the GDP12S060D has no junction capacitance, it can minimize the ringing effect and has better surge capability. It has a DC current rating of 10 Amps, and the average forward current is 12 Amps for operation at a junction temperature of up to 175°C. The diode has a maximum reverse voltage range of 60 V and a forward voltage drop of 0.25 to 0.58 V.

The working principle of the GDP12S060D is based on the flow of current. When a voltage is applied across the anode and the cathode, the resistance of the internal semiconductor junction acts as a proportionally limiting wall, that only allows current flow in one direction. This allows the diode to act as a one way valve, prevent current flow in the opposite direction.
