Snap Action, Limit Switches

GLBA02B is a family of snap action, limit switches for application primarily in industrial and commercial equipment. These switches provide a range of contact configurations, from single pole/single throw (SPST) to double pole/double throw (DPDT), and a variety of actuators and mounting styles.

Application Field

The GLBA02B family of snap action, limit switches have the capability of switching both AC and DC currents and voltages, making them suitable for a wide range of applications. In industrial and commercial settings, these switches can be used as a motion sensing limit switch, a power supply interlock, or a relay interface.

Working Principle

The snap action, limit switches employ a mechanism that allows the switch contacts to be opened or closed when the actuator is operated. The contacts usually make the connection when the actuator reaches the limit of its travel and break the connection when the actuator is actuated. When the limit switch is in its “open” state, there is no electrical connection between the contacts and the switch is open. When the actuator is operated, the switch contacts close, making the electrical connection and allowing the current to flow.

When the actuator is released, a spring mechanism returns the switch contacts to the “open” state, breaking the electrical connection. The spring mechanism provides a “snap” action when the contacts open, which reduces the risk of arcing and increases the life of the switch. In addition, the snap action makes the switch ideal for applications that require a rapid opening and closing of the contacts.
